A brief description of several hourly positions is listed below:

Electrician – Installs, repairs and maintains electrical systems and related components for industrial machinery and equipment and diagnoses or troubleshoots malfunctions.

Instrument Technician – Installs, maintains, troubleshoots and upgrades process control equipment from the field instruments to control systems (DCS/PLC/MLC).

Pipefitter – Installs, inspects, documents, maintains, and repairs a variety of utility pipe lines and utility fixtures throughout the plant, including steam, water, disposal, gas, air, hydraulic and process material.

Millwright – Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, blueprints and manuals.

Welder - Operates both electric-welding and acetylene-welding apparatus. Performs preventive maintenance and maintains continuous improvement of equipment, tools and jigs, as required in order to guarantee quality, delivery and safety targets.

Hiring Process for Craft Professionals


Step 1: Submit an Application and Resume Online

Olin Chlor Alkali will only accept applications submitted through our online application system. In order to be considered for any type of position at Olin Chlor Alkali, you will need to fill out the online application. It is the goal of Olin to hire the most qualified person for each opportunity.

Minimum Requirements for Craft Positions:

  1. Five years experience or journeylevel
  2. Proficiency in at least two craft skills (1 primary and 1 secondary)
    • Maintenance Technician

The specific requirements and criteria for these positions may vary depending on plant location.

Once you have submitted an online application, our recruiting department will review it and notify you if you have been selected to participate in the next step of the recruiting process.

Step 2: Online Craft Assessments

If selected, you will be scheduled to come on-site to complete assessments pertaining to the positions for which Olin Chlor Alkali is hiring. In this step, timed, electronic tests are used to measure your knowledge of the craft. Applicants that successfully complete the tests will be invited to interview on site.

Step 3: Site Interview

During the on site interview, candidates will be assessed on a set of competencies by a panel of 3-4 Olin employees. The primary purpose of the interview process is to assess the technical and cultural fit of the candidate with the needs of Olin and serves as a way for the candidate to gain a better understanding of the current opportunities available and the Olin organization.

Step 4: Performance Test

Following the interview, you may be contacted to come to one of our plants to complete a performance test.

Step 5: Job Offer

Based on the results of the performance test, you may be extended a job offer. Our offers are contingent upon successful completion of a drug screening, physical examination and background check.
